From Sept. 30 to Oct. 1, such things as open air markets and art exhibits will be featured around the town. There will be live entertainment from emerging artists and a number of vendors and activities in Heritage Square in Kerr Village, which is also participating in the weekly Arts in the Square. Sovereign House in Bronte will present Derik Hawleys Collaborations exhibit, as part of Arts on the Bluffs and the Oakville Galleries is hosting an exhibit by multi- discipline artist Marla Hlady. These events include visual arts, music, dance, theatre, architecture, heritage, film and video, literature, culinary arts and new media. Oakville is one of about 800 Canadian communities participating in the celebra- tions of culture this year, up from of 700 communities last year. In total, some 5,500 free activities are planned for the nation- wide event.
