Halton Regional Police Service Sgt. Brian Lowe said the incident took place at around 2:40 p.m. when the man, who worked as a transport truck driver, arrived at the future site of the new Oakville Transit Facility with a load of steel trusses. While the trusses were being offloaded from the vehicle with a forklift, the load on the trailer shifted and fell off the trailer and onto the victim, said Lowe. EMS, fire and police attended. Employees assisted with extricat- ing the man from the steel truss- es that were on top of his body. He was later transported to Oakville Trafalgar Hospital where he suc- cumbed to his injuries. The Ministry of Labour has been contacted and is investigat- ing this incident. Police are not releasing the name of the victim.
