Oakville Speedsters made up nearly half the 192-skater field at the event, which also featured seven other clubs from south- western Ontario. Oakville also had its share of medalists at the event. Ryan McAnuff, Samiah Dhingra, Eli Chislett and Joshua Sullivan won their races. Blake Sullivan, Evan MacHattie, Angelique Sturino, Nicholas Kothleitner and Dania El Sammak earned silver medals, and Zachary Lin, Alexandra Lundhild, Megan Keenan, Mike Quan, Conor McNamee, Andrew Liou and Tiago Lee Santos notched bronze. Adding top-six finishes were Samuel Chin-Cheong, Katie Quesnelle, Erin Stewart, Archie Lee, Suan Chang, Colin Skov, Samuel Ritchie, Anaka Will- Dryden, Shem Roberts, Tom Watson, Sydney Little, Amin Parsa, Letissia Taricani, Amanda Tickner, Quinn MacHattie, Seogi Yi and Scott Van-Werde Bailly. Record number of Speedsters at regional skating meet The Oakville intermediate AA Hornets earned three of six possible points last weekend to move up the Provincial Womens Hockey League standings. The Hornets defeated the Cambridge Fury 5-1 Friday at Joshuas Creek Arenas, lost 2-1 in overtime at home the following afternoon against the Hamilton Hawks and dropped a 2-0 decision to the league-leading Mississauga Chiefs Sunday in Mississauga. Leanne Gallant, Melani Moylan, Hanna Moher, Tricia Kirk and Victoria Bach scored for the Hornets against Cambridge as Oakville enjoyed one of its best offensive outputs of the season. Rebecca Clark made 24 saves to earn the victory in net. Saturday, Anissa Gamble opened the scoring for the Hornets, but Hamilton tied the game in the third period and then netted the winner 4:59 into overtime. Oakville and Mississauga were scoreless into the third period Sunday before the Chiefs scored twice. Kristyn Capizzano provided the winner for Mississauga as the Chiefs avoided their second loss of the season. The Hornets (6-14-3-3) current- ly sit 15th in the league standings.
