The driver Scott Ineson, 31 years of age and the passenger Chris Meyer, 30 years of age, were pronounced deceased at the scene. OPP Sergeant Dave Woodford said the eastbound car went off the highway at the Bronte Road exit ramp for an unknown rea- son at 6:09 a.m. The car then ran through a ditch and struck a light pole. Woodford said the two men were friends on their way to work. Woodford said the OPP are looking for witnesses and asking anyone with informa- tion to contact the Burlington detachment at 905-681-2511. Road conditions were bare and dry at the time of the collision. The OPP Traffic Support Unit will be assisting with this investigation which is ongoing. OPP are asking witnesses to contact the investigating officer, Provincial Constable Crossfield, at the Burlington Detachment (905) 681-2511. Torstar wire services Two Burlington men killed in QEW crash MICHELLE SIU / OAKVILLE BEAVER CRASH SCENE: Two Burlington men were killed earlier this morning when their small car left the eastbound Queen Elizabeth Way at Bronte Road and struck a pole. In a report to council, the Towns commis- sioner of corporate services and treasurer Gord Lalonde said the developers, who appealed the 2009 development charges bylaw shortly after it were passed, were calling for development charges to remain at the 2004 levels of around $9,500. Since 2004, the development charge had risen to $13,481. Lalonde said that by set- tling the Town avoids legal fees, which for a minimum eight-week hearing, as well as experts and some preparation fees, were esti- mated to be up to approximately $1.4 million. As part of the settlement, the Town must reimburse $2.9 million to developers, who already paid the $21,682 development charge. As a result of the development charge reduction, the Town will also have to delay or scale back on a number of capital projects planned for the 2009-2018 forecast. These projects include: A new main library, which now will not be built until sometime after 2018. Part of the Trinison-Vermillion Community Park B, with $150,000 cut from this budget this period. The QEW East Employment Lands, which will not begin development until after 2018. Part of the South Shell Waterfront Park, with $980,540 cut from this budget this period. Part of the East-West Trail in north Oakville and part of the trail development in north Oakville, which will both be deferred beyond 2018. All municipal parking projects, which have been deferred beyond 2018. Part of the Transit Expansion Buses, with $1.65 million cut from this budget this period. The Central Operations Expan- sion/Renovation, which will not take place until after 2018. A number of road and related infrastruc- ture projects, which will not take place until after 2018.
