NIKKI WESLEY / OAKVILLE BEAVER Halton police have arrested a suspect in connection with a string of bank robberies in the region this month. Earlier this month a man robbed several banks: a TD Canada Trust bank on Dec. 4 and a Scotia Bank on Dec. 6, both in Burlington. Then a week later a man robbed the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Hopedale Mall in Oakville on Dec. 13. In all cases, a man produced a note demanding money and in Oakville indicated he had a weapon and fled each bank with undis- closed amounts of money. Police have charged Frederick Craig Johnson, 54, of no fixed address, with three counts of rob- bery. Johnson was located and arrest- ed by the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement squad with the assis- tance of the Hamilton Police Service.
