The midget AA Hornets went undefeated in their first five games to reach the tournament final before falling 5-3 to North Bay and settling for silver. Oakville defeated London 2-1, Etobicoke 5-0 and Compuware 4- 0 while tying North Bay 1-1 in round-robin play to win its pool, then edged Burlington in a shootout in the semifinals. Justine Treadwell was named the Hornets MVP in the champi- onship game. Kara Anthony, Lesley Ashby, Catherine Berghuis, Emily Carter, Paige Chow, Jessica Holloway, Camille Leonard, Laura Medlock, Amanda Pereira, Courtney Power, Ericka Pyke, Stephanie Solty, Lindsay Stenason, Katharyn Stevenson, Miranda Von Hanke and Kendyl Wilson also contributed to the sil- ver-medal performance. Malcolm Anthony, Will Stenason and Steve Wilson coach the squad. The intermediate AA Hornets also finished first in their pool, posting wins over Rochester U19, the Ontario Hockey Academy and a team from Ohio. The Hornets fell in the semifinals, however, dropping a shootout decision to Ridley College. Alex Chisholm led Oakville in scoring at the tournament, tally- ing four goals and two assists. Christine Grant, Melani Moylan and bantam AA callup Victoria Bach contributed two goals each, while Breanne Bennett, Emma Dahlgren, Lindsay Grigg and Evelyn McLean notched singles. Kat Selinger, Hanna Moher, Maddie Baird, Leanne Gallant and Tricia Kirk all had at least one assist in the tournament. Rebecca Clark, Laura Corcoran, Mia Favretto and Gaby Leonard round out the Oakville squad, which is coached by Bradi Cochrane. Midget, intermediate Hornets win their pools at Belle Tire tournament The Oakville minor peewee AA Rangers won the championship at the recent Motown Cup Tournament in Detroit. The Rangers went undefeated in the tournament, clinching gold with a 5-1 victo- ry over the Farmington Hills Fire in the championship game. Members of the Rangers team are Kyle Salmon, Tyler Campbell, Mitchell Palmer, Kyle Kennery, Cameron McLean, Adam Nowoselski, Spencer McLean, Justin Lyttle, Jack Ricketts, James Gabura, Boston Morrison, Joshua Aloe, Jack Guimaraes, Malcolm Myers, Mike Taciuk, Mike Matson and Ryan Derenzis. Dan Lyttle, Dom Derenzis, Mike Derenzis and John Ricketts coach the team. Neil Morrison is the trainer.
