Entering its fifth year, the provincial award program has rec- ognized 82 recipients for their outstanding contributions to edu- cation, including several HDSB staff and teachers. There are six award categories. The school board said it takes pride in the work of its staff and wishes to see their successes rec- ognized through the awards pro- gram put on by the Premiers Office and the Ontario Ministry of Education. If you know a teacher or sup- port staff member who has made a difference in your school commu- nity and has demonstrated a com- mitment to students, the school board wants you to nominate him or her. Nominations can be sub- mitted by anyone including stu- dents, parents, staff, colleagues, community members, local busi- ness people and social agency partners. Teachers, support staff, principals and vice-principals, supervisory officers, directors of education and many others are eli- gible for nomination. All nominations must be sub- mitted before Monday, Jan. 31, 2011.
