Any incident is deeply regrettable and TransCanada fully investigates the cause and takes actions to avoid similar inci- dents (detailed information on our safety practices can be found on TransCanadas website). TransCanada did not have a pipeline failure in Texas in 2008. During construction of the Halton Hills Generating Station there was a fatal- ity that occurred on a neighbouring prop- erty. This accident was unrelated to our facility. Regrettably, during construction of the Portlands Energy Centre a third-party contractor died due to proper safety proto- col not being followed. Accidents impact the individuals and families involved and the employees that work diligently to keep our facilities safe. Lessons need to be learned throughout the entire industry to avoid future unfor- tunate events such as these. Ive worked at TransCanada for 20 years and my husband has worked at the company for 22 years. As an employee and a parent, I sincere- ly believe that the safety of TransCanadas employees, contractors, neighbours and the environment is the companys biggest priority.
