VILIM, Ruth (nee Weisner) It is with great sadness that the family of Ruth Vilim announces her passing on September 17, 2010, in Oakvi l le a t the age of 88. A pr ivate fami ly serv ice was he ld on Sep tember 21 , 2010 , w i th in te rment i n C l a rkson Cemete r y, Mississauga. Ruth was born to Otto and Maria Weisner on February 28, 1922 in Vienna, Austr ia . She lef t Vienna for England in her teenage years, and was followed by her parents shortly after. Ruth attended University College Hospital in London f rom 1943 to 1946, graduated, and passed exams to become a registered nurse. That same year, she married Paul Vilim and moved to Canada, proudly becoming a Canadian citizen in 1949. Ruth continued her career as a nurse while supporting her husband through engineering school. Together, they had five children. Ruth had an adventurous spirit. In 1971, she and her family travelled to India where they lived for several years, and in 1975, they traveled again to Argentina. Paul's untimely and sudden death in Argentina brought the family back to Canada. She devoted the remainder of her l i fe to guiding and caring for her children and grandchildren. Ruth had the fortitude to purchase a family cottage in Muskoka in order for the family to have a place to congregate. Many good times followed. Forever progressive, she returned to school when she was 65 and graduated in 1997 at the age of 75 from the Universi ty of Water loo wi th a Bachelor of Ar ts degree. She t rave led of ten in her senior years, especially to visit her grandchildren, and enjoyed playing bridge, a life long pleasure for her. She is survived and wil l be dearly missed by her sons and daughters- in - law, R ich and Mar y V i l im o f Sugar Grove , I l l i no is , Ron and Kather ine V i l im of Thunder Bay, Ontar io , Doug V i l im and Peggy O'Ne i l o f Oakvi l le , Ontar io; her daughters and son-in laws, June and Rick Krawiec of Oakville, Ontario, Margot and W.
