Public school board hires new director Halton District School Board has appointed its new director of education, after the long-expected retirement of the outgoing director Wayne Joudrie. David Euale was appointed to the board's top position at a special meeting on Wednesday, July 14. Euale is currently the director of the Ministry of Education's Student Success, and Learning to 18 Implementation, Training and Evaluation Branch. He will begin his new position at the David Euale start of the upcoming school year in September. "We're very pleased to welcome David to Halton," said Bruce Jones, board chair, in a press release. "David's leadership, integrity and student-centered focus are a great fit for Halton. We look forward to continuing our focus on our commitment to every student under David's direction." Prior to working with the ministry, Euale was the superintendent of education with the Upper Grand District School Board, which serves Wellington and Dufferin counties. He was also a principal at two Upper Grand high schools, prior to becoming superintendent. He is originally from Sault Ste. Marie and moved to southern Ontario for his education. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in math at the University of Waterloo and then received a masters degree at the University of Toronto. "We were impressed with David's credentials and experience, as well as his personal and professional reputation," Jones said. "This will serve Halton well as we strive to reach current goals and set new ones in our continued efforts to support student learning." "I look forward to joining the Halton District School Board team," Euale said, in the release. "The Board is well known for its commitment to student learning, achievement and well-being, as well as its excellent programs and services. I welcome the opportunity to work with Halton's dedicated staff and community to further these goals, and develop new initiatives to support public education in Halton."
