Bernadette Duzyk, Lesha Kokosky, Anna Kutishcheva and Angela Van Der Oord will have their works on display for public viewing from June 19 to June 30 in the north wing of Sovereign House. "I'm very happy to have four local artists of this calibre who specialize in still life, landscape and Chinese watercolour come together to launch a stunning show," said Art on the Bluffs Chair Lyn Estall. "This exhibit will appeal to not just art lovers, but also gardeners." The In the Garden exhibit features a wide range of styles composed by the artists. An artist and educator, Kokosky has been featured in Sovereign House in the past and has showcased her work in solo and group shows over the past four decades in galleries all over Ontario, Québec and Alberta. Duzyk has primarily studied classical art in Europe throughout her career, but over the past 20 years she has specialized in Chinese brush painting. Duzyk was the former president of the Mississauga Sumi-e Art Society and has exhibited in galleries in southern Ontario and Montreal, as well as giving a demonstration on Rogers Cable TV in 2004. Kutishcheva is a 2010 Oakville Arts Award finalist and has a background in fine art, illustration and graphic design. Her work has been published in Maclean's, Ocala Style and Niagara Living magazines. Kutishcheva has a passion for landscape painting. Van Der Oord received her portraiture training from West Coast artist Elizabeth Smiley to complement her fine arts education from the UK. She was a board member of the North Vancouver Art Association and a member of the Lakeshore Art Association in Beaconsfield, Québec before moving to Oakville in the mid-1980s. Art on the Bluffs has been the major fundraising effort for the Bronte Historical Society for the past 13 years.
