Vol. 48 No. 60 "USING COMMUNICATION TO BUILD BETTER COMMUNITIES" Peeping Tom at rec centre An Oakville teenager is facing two charges of mischief after what police are calling a pair of public bathroom prowling incidents. The first incident took place May 9, but was not reported until recently. Police said a 10-year old girl was using the women's washroom in the Glen Abbey Community Centre, when a teenaged boy entered the stall next to her, climbed up on the toilet and peered over the dividing wall at her. The boy did not speak or attempt to touch the girl, but departed moments later. The second incident took place Tuesday evening when, police said, the same culprit returned to the community Centre and entered an unoccupied stall in the women's washroom. Police said the boy was discovered by a female maintenance employee after failing to convince her he was a girl by imitating a feminine voice. Police were also provided with video footage by community centre staff and as a result were able to make an arrest. The teen, who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been released into his parent's custody and a court date has been set. Anyone with information is asked to contact Staff Sgt. Anthony Odoardi at 905-878-5511, ext. 2210. Skateboarding decision deferred By David Lea OAKVILLE BEAVER STAFF ERIC RIEHL / SPECIAL TO THE BEAVER ALL THEY NEED IS SUN: Oakville's Jack Yeilding, 7, (in front) and his brother Christopher, 4, are all set for the 2010 edition of Jack's Lemonade event on Saturday, May 29. It will be a fundraiser and a homecoming for Jack who spent 67 days away from home so far this year to undergo a trio of brain surgeries and rehabilitation. For the story, see page 29. Residents living near the West Oak Trails Skateboard Park want peace, skateboarders want to play and the Town is struggling to find a happy medium that permits both. This judgment on what to do with the West Oak Trails Skateboard Park was postponed Wednesday night with the Town's Community Services Committee asking staff to provide more information on possible options by Tuesday night's council meeting. At the heart of the matter are concerns residents, who live adjacent to the park, have about noise, which they say is coming from the skateboard park, particularly at night.
