On Sundays, they'll put in one or two hours at a treadmill class in Mississauga, then walk 20 kilometers back home. So what drives them to keep pushing themselves? "We have to prove to ourselves that we can do it. It's very important to us that our kids think of exercise as something like brushing your teeth. It's not a question, you just do it," says Armstrong. "We want to lead by example. "Doing all the training to get there is not that enjoyable. But the feeling you have when you cross the finish line... it's just the most amazing feeling." In order to participate in the Oxfam Trailwalker Challenge, participants must raise at least $2,500 in pledges towards Oxfam, an international development agency that works with 100 partner organizations in Africa, the Americas and Asia. The organization tackles the root causes of poverty, injustice and inequality, helping to create self-reliant and sustainable communities, with a specific focus on women. A third-period rally by the Oakville Buzz fell short Sunday in Welland as the Buzz dropped to .500 at the midway point of the Ontario Lacrosse Association junior B season. Scoring the final three goals of the game wasn't enough for the Buzz (5-5) to dig itself out of an early 5-1 deficit against the Warlords, who held on to defeat Oakville 8-6 and move six points ahead of the Buzz in the South West Division. Patrick Corbett remains a bright spot for the Buzz, scoring twice and adding three assists Sunday. The rookie leads Oakville in scoring with 31 points in 10 games. Tyler Albrecht, Kevin Harper, Alex Kruse and Dan Lomas also found the net Sunday for the Buzz. Graeme Kirkness and Tyler Sullivan split time in goal, with Sullivan taking the loss. Earlier in the weekend, the Buzz downed the struggling Hamilton Bengals 10-4 Friday in Hamilton. Lomas sparked Oakville with a five-goal effort, four of those goals coming before the midway point of the game. Spencer Gallant notched a pair and Dylan Gilbert, Connor Gamble and Kruse added singles. Braden Gallant and Corbett each contributed four assists, while Bryan Cole and Spencer Gallant both had three helpers. Kirkness earned the victory in goal, dropping the Bengals to 2-11 on the campaign. The Buzz returns to action tomorrow (Thursday) with a visit to the Niagara Thunderhawks, Oakville's fourth consecutive road game. The Buzz finally returns home Friday for an 8 p.m. clash with Welland at Glen Abbey Recreation Centre before heading back out on the road Sunday against the St. Catharines Spartans.
