This year the hikes are from 7- 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 24 and Saturday, May 1. The songs or mating calls are so distinctive that various frog species can be identified simply by their calls. The earliest songster is the Spring Peeper, a tiny tree frog that makes a loud peep, but when thousands of these amphibians call together, the sound is almost deafening.
