Moriah Chiang, Jenna Rolland-Mills, Marie-Pier Bisson, Emma Mogus and Pauline Jo will all compete in the Trillium STARSkate Championships this weekend. Chiang, Mogus and Jo are members of the Milton Skating Club, while RollandMills and Bisson skate for the Oakville Skating Club. The five skaters qualified for provincials by finishing in the top three of their divisions at the Central Ontario sectionals in Brampton last month. She began skating at the age of four and participated in her first competition two years later. Mogus, 11, is inspired by her older sister, competitive pre-novice skater Julia. Mogus, who attends Pope John Paul II Catholic School, is making her second straight trip to the provincial meet. Last year, she was first in her division at sectionals. Jo, 12, is a Grade 7 student at Munn's Public School. She began skating only one year ago, but has already medaled at various competitions throughout central and western Ontario. The Edge sent three squads to the competition, where the elementary team finished second with a routine to a modern medley by Maksim that portrays a fireworks show. "The elementary team exceeded all expectations at regionals, meeting each and every performance goal by remaining calm and focused," said coach Jayda Everett-Malcolm. "We are very proud of the girls and their accomplishment. It was very exciting to watch them enjoy their moment."
