Forum panelists will debate military presence in Afghanistan When it comes to Afghanistan, should Canada stay, go or do something in between? With every Canadian death in the wartorn country and with Canada's 2011 deadline for suspending its combat role in Afghanistan rapidly approaching, many Canadians are asking themselves what is the right thing to do with regards to Canada's presence in Afghanistan. On Sunday, Jan. 10, the Oakville Community Centre for Peace, Ecology and Human Rights will attempt to provide some answers to this difficult question through its presentation Canada's Involvement in Afghanistan: Stay, Go or Something in Between? Housed within St. Jude's Anglican Church, located at 160 William St., the free event is from 7-9:30 p.m. and features presenters Haroon Siddiqui, of the Toronto Star, and Sally Armstrong from Maclean's and Chatelaine. Siddiqui is an advocate of withdrawing Canadian troops, while Armstrong has written extensively about the plight of Afghan women under the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.
