Five-car pileup on QEW The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division has launched an investigation to determine what led to a fivevehicle pileup on the QEW, near Burloak Drive on Saturday. Police said the crash took place at around 2:45 p.m. when five vehicles became involved in a chain-reaction type collision in the eastbound lanes of the QEW, just east of Burloak Drive. A Halton police cruiser, which was transporting a prisoner, sustained severe damage during accident. Both occupants suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Joseph Brant Memorial Hospital in Burlington. A Chevrolet Impala rolled on to its roof as a result of the accident. Three people were trapped inside, but were eventually freed by Burlington firefighters and transported to Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The three other vehicles involved in the accident received major damage, but none of the occupants were injured. The accident resulted in eastbound QEW closures being for nearly five hours.
