Only days before this article appeared, I saw these lamp posts and smiled to myself thinking how wonderful it was to keep a little of the old with the new. In fact, I was quite relieved to see that they had been resurrected. They are a bit of nostalgia that reminds us of our roots. As a young girl driving home to Etobicoke from Hamilton, these were my landmarks that I was on the right route and would be home soon. We are often so eager to move forward and shed the past, but it is these small nods to our heritage that need to be cherished. They harm no one and please some of us.
