The first robbery dates back to Sept. 6, when two suspects broke into the Shell Gas Station kiosk, at 645 Third Line, and stole a large amount of cigarettes. This initial robbery was followed more than a month later by a break-in at the Canadian Tire gas bar, at 412 Dundas St. W., and two separate break-ins at the Canadian Tire gas bar, 630 Fourth Line. Each robbery took place after business hours and resulted in a large quantity of cigarettes stolen. A mini-van was seen leaving the scene of each robbery. On Monday, a Niagara Regional Police Service uniformed officer observed a suspicious blue mini-van in the Town of Welland around 4:30 a.m. Further investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen. Eventually the investigation led Halton police to lay charges against the two men in connection with the four Oakville robberies. John Michael Lenik, 46, of Wainfleet, is facing four counts of break and enter to commit theft, two counts of theft under $5,000, four counts of failing to comply with a probation order and one count of possessing stolen property. Dwayne Joseph Utman, 30, of Niagara Falls, has been charged with two counts of break and enter to commit theft and two counts of theft under $5,000. Halton police are on the lookout for two suspects following the robbery of a Sunoco Gas Station, early Thursday morning. Police said the robbery began shortly after 2 a.m. when two men entered the gas station located at 754 Bronte Rd. One man armed with a slim aluminum baseball bat forced the lone male attendant into a corner and proceeded to remove an undisclosed amount of money from the cash drawer. Meanwhile, an accomplice loaded cigarettes and lottery tickets into a black plastic bag. The two men fled the gas station through the back door and were seen leaving the area in a vehicle, possibly eastbound on the QEW. Suspect one is described as a white male, 5foot-8, 160 pounds, wearing white shoes, dark pants, blue gloves and a black coat. The suspect concealed his face with a dark cloth. The second suspect is described as a white male, 5-foot-8, 160 pounds, wearing white shoes, a black coat with diamond pattern stitching, a grey toque and a dark cloth covering his face. The vehicle the suspects fled the area in is described as an older style white van, possibly a Chrysler, with tinted windows. The Halton Regional Police Service is continuing to investigate this incident.
