www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday January 21, 2009 - 5 Young man robbed at gunpoint and pistol-whipped A 19-year-old man was pistolwhipped and robbed at gunpoint in the area of Marlborough Court and White Oaks Boulevard early Monday morning. Police said the man was walking with six friends along Marlborough Court, shortly after 1:30 a.m., when a car pulled up beside them. After the vehicle came to a stop, a masked passenger got out and pointed a black handgun at the victim. The victim was ordered to turn over his wallet. After the man complied, he was struck in the head with the butt of the suspect's pistol. Police said the suspect pointed his weapon at the other six people in the group, but stole nothing from them. He left with an undisclosed amount of money, fleeing the scene in the vehicle. The victim did not require medical attention for his injury. The gunman is described as a white male, 20 years of age, 6-foot-4, with a thin build and red hair. He wore a black jacket with a fur trim around the hood and a blue bandana, which covered most of his face. The driver was described as a white male, clean-shaven with a black jacket. The suspect's vehicle is described as a newer looking four-door Mazda sedan, grey or silver in colour. Toddler injured during domestic dispute Continued from page 1 cerned ambulance personnel, who were called to an Oakville home to treat a two-year-old girl with serious injuries. When police arrived, the toddler was removed from the home for treatment at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. The Halton Police Domestic Violence Unit was also summoned to conduct an investigation. Police said the girl was injured during an argument between the 38year-old father and his 36-year-old wife. In the heat of the argument, police allege the man threw two telephone handsets at his wife with the first hitting his wife in the arm and the second hitting the child, who was being held by her mother, in the face. The woman suffered a minor injury to her arm. The man, whose name is not being released to protect the identi- ties of the victims, has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon. He will appear in a Milton Court on Feb. 27, to answer the charges. In the meantime, he has been conditionally released from police custody. Police note that in these cases one condition is usually to stay away from the victims. The Halton Children's Aid Society has been brought in to deal with this case.
