Teens TAP into adventure The Town of Oakville's Teen Adventure Program (TAP) recently hosted a Make Your Move Sports Day at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community Centre. It was all about raising awareness about the importance of daily physical activity regardless of your age or ability. "TAP summer camp programs provide teens with special needs recreational opportunities in their own community," said Carol Gall, Recreation Supervisor with the Town of Oakville. "It's an excellent opportunity for them to learn the importance of including daily physical activity in their lives," said Gall. Organized by Teen Adventure Program staff and three Leaders in Training, the Make Your Move Sports Day included obstacle courses, Ultimate Frisbee and other active challenges that place emphasis on fun and participation. It even included a stop for some shopping at nearby Hopedale Mall. "We're extremely fortunate to have role models like David McGaw, Ingrid Dam and Greg Kozak assisting both staff and participants this year. These young leaders are former participants themselves and help make the new campers feel welcome," said Gall. The Town of Oakville Make Your Move campaign promotes the benefits of healthy active lifestyles and encourages residents to become more active through daily sport and recreational activities.
