www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday August 29, 2008 - 5 Arrest in armed robberies An Oakville man is facing numerous charges in connection with two armed robberies committed in less than one hour at a gas station and convenience store earlier this summer. In the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 15, police say a masked man entered the Petro Canada gas station located at 2300 Royal Windsor Dr. The man pulled out a handgun and confronted the store clerk, demanding money. The man then reached over the counter and attempted to open the cash register, but then fled the scene when he was unable to do so. Police said about a half hour later, the same individual entered the Mac's Milk convenience store, located at 2530 Sixth Line, and again produced a handgun. This time the man succeeded in getting money out of the register and then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. Last week Halton Regional Police arrested Brent Robert Kertesz, 20, of Oakville in connection with these offences. Kertesz faces two counts of robbery with a firearm, two counts of wearing a disguise with intent, three counts of breaching probation and three counts of breaching bail recognizance.
