It's all part of a Jail-A-Thon fundraising event to be held Oct. 17-18 at Hopedale Mall. Tom Suddaby, chair of Halton Crime Stoppers, hopes local politicians and business leaders from across Halton will volunteer to spend time behind bars while raising donations for the program. "We anticipate this will be our largest fundraising event of the year," Suddaby said. "It's also going to be a fun event and we're looking forward to seeing who will end up in the makeshift jail we will be setting up at the indoor courtyard of the mall," he said. The success that Crime Stoppers has achieved since being launched here in 1988 has almost depleted the reward fund and cash is urgently required to allow the program to continue operating. A similar fundraiser, organized by Halton Crime Stoppers several years ago, raised $30,000. Anyone wishing to be a jailbird at the event can contact 905-8254747, ext 5139.
