www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday May 3, 2008 - 29 Oakville Executive Golf Course is back and better than ever! With two public golf courses in one convenient location, Oakville Executive Golf Course offers exceptional value at an affordable price. After a devastating arson fire took their club house last summer, this July it will be back and better than ever! Meanwhile the golf courses are open as usual. Alexandra D'Cunha, general manager/owner in this family-run business, says they are excited about the completion of the new club house. "If there is one silver lining in the whole big dark cloud, it is that we were bursting at the seams. Being in operation for almost 20 years, back then we never thought we'd have two golf courses and more people coming every day. So we have decided to think big for the future." The new 5,000 square foot, 2 million dollar building, will seat 70 people inside, as well as 70 people outside on the covered terrace. Inside features a beautiful stone bar and large windows overlooking the course and the restaurant offers fantastic, healthy, gourmet food. They have come a long way since D'Cunha's father, Harold Myers purchased the farm land in 1989 with hopes of turning it into a golf course. Today a wide variety of people enjoy this public golf course, including juniors, seniors, men, women, blue collar workers, as well as executives. They enjoy the convenience of the executive course, a shorter length course taking less time to play. "It's the perfect course to play when you don't have that much time." At Oakville Executive Gold Course they also cater to small and mid-sized tournaments, have mens, ladies, and junior leagues, as well as junior camps. D'Cunha loves working everyday along side her father and her sister Katrina Myers. "I think a lot of our customers really love the fact that we know them by their first name and very much feel like they are apart of our family. Our cus- tomers have always appreciated that we give great service. They have been very loyal to us going through what has happened." Experience the picturesque grounds, maintained to private club standards, and laid out to challenge your skill. Oakville Executive Golf Course provides great golf value without spending all day on the course Health tips for the golf course The following simple tips can also help to improve your golf score while keeping you pain and injury free. 1. When lifting your golf bag, bend your knees and lift using your legs and not your back. 2. Always warm up with a few minutes of aerobic activity, such as brisk walking. 3. Stretch the muscles in your back, abdomen and shoulders before your game. 4. Use clubs that are the correct length, so you do not have to bend or overextend your back. 5. Wear soft spikes on your shoes for greater cushioning and shock absorption. 6. Use a cart rather than carrying your clubs. 7. Take some lessons on how to swing and choose the correct club. 8. Occasionally practice swinging in the opposite direction to balance the stress on the muscles in your back. 9. Bend your knees and use a golf club for support when stooping to retrieve your ball. 10. Always stretch to cool down after finishing a game. - News Canada "Golf's More Fun When You Play It Right!" Money-saving Membership Program! "Family Golf Learning Centre, Centre, " Can Help You!"
