Stanbury credited a tough league schedule, the determination of his players and the assistance of Ed Martin, Steve Montague, Renee Serrao and Brian Prentice as main factors in his team's success this year. Tim Gibson led the Rangers' offensive charge in the final with four goals, including a hat trick in the opener. Nicholas Randell notched the overtime winner in Game 2, and Andrew Wilkinson potted a pair in the clincher. Lucas Ricci recorded the shutout in Game 1, while Alex Papineau earned the win in goal in the second game. Also scoring for Oakville in the championship series were Joseph Serrao (two), Zachary Foweather (two), Alex Montague, Jonathon Mills, Jake Tomkowiak, Cameron Clasper and Liam Coderre. Jacob Patriquin, Jayden Wiggins, Jay Stanbury, Cole Sarafinchan and Ben Prentice each contributed at least one assist in the series. Atom AA, AE teams seek titles tonight The minor atom AA Rangers were one of seven local teams to advance to the OMHA championship series this year, and the second to win a title (the novice AAA Rangers won their OMHA tournament earlier this month). Two more Oakville clubs, the atom AA and atom AE (additional) Rangers, have an opportunity to claim championships of their own tonight. The atom AA Rangers will travel to Aurora for a winnertake-all contest, after the Rangers and Tigers each earned two wins and a tie in the first five games of the series. Oakville had a chance to lock up the title Sunday at Glen Abbey but dropped a 4-1 decision. Interestingly, neither team has prevailed on home ice in the series. The atom AE Rangers also hoped to wrap up their series Sunday at home, but fell 5-3 to Caledon, tying the series 22. The series resumes tonight in Caledon, with the winner claiming the OMHA crown. The novice A Rangers own a 2-1-1 lead in their series with the Orillia Terriers, following a 4-3 win Sunday at Glen Abbey. Oakville will look to finish the series Friday in Orillia. Meanwhile, the atom A Rangers staved off elimination Sunday with a 3-1 victory in Port Perry, cutting the Predators' series lead to 2-1. Game 4 of that series is slated for Saturday at River Oaks, with Game 5 (if necessary) back in Port Perry the following day. The peewee AA and bantam AE Rangers both lost their championship series. The peewees were ousted 3-1 by Aurora, while the bantams were swept by the Whitby Wildcats. "The difference between a regular season and playoff game is simple... the price we pay." Be there!
