On Wednesday, March 5, 1,500 children from the YMCA Child Care Centres participated in a walkathon to support the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. This campaign raises much needed financial support for children, teens and families who can't afford the full cost of participation in a YMCA program or service. Hi, My name is Louise and I have worked with the YMCA of Oakville for more than eight years always working with children in the before and after school department. Over the years, I have met hundreds of children, but I want to tell you about an inspiring young lady who is only eight years old and has been a life-long fundraiser.. You see, Emily has Down Syndrome. Her disability, however, does not stop her from doing what she loves to do, which is walking. She has participated in fundraising walks for the Down Syndrome Association of Toronto since she was three years old. ALL REGULAR PRICED ITEMS Trafalgar Rd. South Service Rd. Bronte Rd. She is treated no differently from the others and is accepted by everyone as an equal. All of the other children love and accept her without fault. Emily enjoys walking and is now learning how to bake -- she is such an inspiration to all of us in making miracles happen. This spring Emily walked with our Child Care Centre on Wednesday as all of the YMCA child care children will be 'walking strong' for YMCA Strong Kids, helping to raise funds to send kids to camp or learn how to swim. I have committed to helping children like Emily with my personal gift. I am hoping that you will be able to join me in making the dreams of a child come true. Just go to www.ymcastrongkids.ca and click on the donate now button and make your investment in the life of a little boy or girl, like Emily, today. Thank you.
