In fact, Frank de Jong would be leading Ontario. The local high school held a mock election Tuesday, an Elections Canada initiative that saw students cast ballots in more than 1,000 schools across the province. At White Oaks, the Green Party led the way with 40 per cent of the vote, edging the Liberals, who earned 35 per cent. The Progressive Conservatives and NDP won 13 and 12 per cent respectively. As for why the Green Party came out on top, Grade 10 White Oaks student Andrew Filler says the younger generation recognizes it's time for change. "Students care about the environment, it's time to change it, it's time to do something about it," said the 15-year-old.
