28 - The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday August 4, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com Local LHIN needs residents to help The Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) wants volunteers to get involved. The local LHIN created an Integrated HealthService Plan (IHSP) that outlines local integration priorities, following an extensive community engagement process. The IHSP is based on input and feedback from more than 3,000 local residents and health service providers. The Mississauga Halton LHIN is now ready for the next step and will be creating Detailed Planning and Action Teams (DPA Teams) to drive the work outlined in its IHSP. It is asking the communities its serves for their continued participation and support, since it believes its local residents and health service providers are the ones who best understand local health-service needs. DPA Teams will be established to correspond to the health service priorities contained within the IHSP. Community members, residents and health service providers can get involved with DPA Teams to help shape the future of our local health system. The following Teams are to be established in the coming months and require committed, passionate and knowledgeable individuals to take part. These Teams will assist with the design and implementation of the following areas: · Children and Youth DPA Team · Chronic Disease Prevention and Management DPA Team · Mental Health and Addictions DPA Team · Mothers and Newborns DPA Team · Primary Health Care DPA Team · Seniors Integrated Model DPA Team. Full descriptions of each integration priority area can be found in the IHSP.
