The group gets the word out about its meetings and guest speakers -- it holds meetings at the Halton Multicultural Council office on Fourth Line (at Speers Road) and at venues in Milton and keeps an e-mail list of those who attend -- issuing invitations to attend future meetings and speakers as they come up. Whyte said between 150-200 names are on Halton Holistic Harmony's contact list though not all attend all meetings. "Our focus is for like-minded holistic people being able to meet, share ideas, network, build friendships, and learn in a friendly, informal setting. We feature guest speakers who give presentations on holistic topics. We always welcome donations at our events for the local Fareshare Food Bank," said Whyte. Occasionally, the group holds a healthy potluck and presentation. Suggestions for future topics are welcome as are local alternative health practitioners who would like to give a presentation. Whyte said she has had an ongoing interest in health and nutrition and Stewart's expertise in alternative health practices accelerated her interest in the field. Whyte explained she has had bronchial infections ever since she was a child. "I was so tired of being sick several times a year," said Whyte describing coughing at all hours of the day and night, chest pain and more. Stewart has been involved in research into colloidal silver for modern use. He believes that can be achieved through electro-magnetic stimulation of the gland and has designed equipment for the job. Another pet project of Stewart's is the development and use of chlorine-free swimming pools to ward off the use of chemicals and any harmful effects. "My motto is if you can't drink it, don't swim in it," he said. Stewart has a great passion for linking the physical with the spiritual and has lectured extensively on consciousness and creativity. "Our group is a chance to meet other practitioners, strong enthusiasts and those interested in learning more about a certain topic," said Whyte. Stewart admits he was interested in biophysics and experimentation from an early age. While Whyte said mainstream medicine does have its place, it can be overused or misused and said, "More and more people are turning to other options, alternatives, which are less invasive, with less potential of risk or drug interactions." Stewart said there can be alternative or complementary options. "We don't want to exclude anything, we want to be inclusive," said Stewart. That works both ways and the couple said they, too, have investigated the offerings of other local groups such as Oakvillegreen and Gardens Off Drugs, for example. At its April meeting, Halton Holistic Harmony featured Sheila M. Street, a deep trance psychic channel for The Herald, said to be a super-conscious group of nonphysical entities. While Street was to address the phenomenon of trance channeling, the event notice stated The Herald would address the latest buzz topic, the Law of Attraction.
