To help promote this year's makeover, Mayor Rob Burton and event sponsors surprised resident Joel MacLeod with a gift basket. In celebration of Oakville's 150th Anniversary, MacLeod's name was drawn from among the first 150 registrants in this year's Town-wide litter pick-up event. "This event would not be possible without the support of our community, and we wanted to recognize someone who has volunteered their time to make our Town a better place," said Burton. "I'd like to thank the many residents who will participate in this year's makeover event. It is your efforts that help keep Oakville beautiful." The gift basket is filled with Oakville 150th-themed merchandise, as well as gifts from event sponsors. "Our sponsors should also be commended for their involvement," added Burton. "Enhancing our natural environment is one of our Town's key priorities. The business community is a key partner in our efforts to create and preserve Oakville as Canada's most livable community." Oakville's 20-Minute Makeover -- an event that asks citizens to get outside for 20 minutes to pick up litter around their workplace, school or home -- will take place on Friday, April 20 at 2 p.m. This year's sponsors ry, those who complete a registration form will be recognized in an advertisement or on the Town's website after the event.
