The Oakville native will perform as the finale to the company's second annual Great Singers Recital Series at Hamilton Place. Schade, whose recording of Mozart arias and duets with fellow Canadians won him a 2007 Juno, is one of the most desired Mozart tenors in the world today. Though a specialist in the world of Mozart he has portrayed the role of Tamino in The Magic Flute more than 250 times Schade performs a variety of opera, concert and solo recital repertoire. As a child he sang in the St. Michaels Choir School in Toronto and later went to pursue his Masters at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia. His expertise has been captured in 33 recordings since 1992. This season, Schade continues to share his talent with the world, performing in Vienna, New York, Montreal, London, Barcelona and Salzburg. His upcoming recital performances include New York City's Carnegie Hall in March, as well as at the universities of Miami and Minnesota Duluth before Schade returns to the Opera Hamilton stage. He will then commence a tour highlighting his creation, Mozart Letters with l'Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal and will then head on to perform in Ottawa, Quebec City, and St. Johns, Newfoundland. The program will include art songs, arias and Viennese folk songs, by Beethoven, Schubert, Liszt, Strauss, and Stolz. Pianist Stephen Ralls, founder and Artistic Director of the Aldeburgh Connection and Associate Professor and Musical Director of the Opera Division at the University of Toronto, will accompany Schade.
