20 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday January 5, 2007 www.oakvillebeaver.com This show is a real disaster -- and producers like it that way Disaster DIY a new reality home renovation TV show is showing its premiere episode today and tomorrow on HGTV. Featuring Oakville's Bryan Baeumler as the show's host, each episode investigates a home renovation by a do-it-yourselfer who couldn't quite do it themselves. Baeumler, who started a summer handyman business at the family cottage at age 14, has been building ever since, following in his father's footsteps. He now runs his own construction company -- Baeumler Quality Construction, which operates under the motto: "Design, Destroy, Rebuild." The show features that same motto. "Disaster DIY is a series for anyone who's ever thought, I can do that,' and attempted a home renovation project that ended up being more than they bargained for," said Anna Gecan, vice president, content, HGTV. "We're pleased to introduce Bryan Baeumler, HGTV's newest renovation expert, whose experience in the industry, patience and commitment to right DIY wrongs will give our viewers the information they need before starting any home reno project." Each episode has Baeumler showing up at the home of a do-it-yourselfer, assessing the damage and meeting the family who has been forced to live with an unfinished, often unsightly and potentially unsafe renovation. Baeumler then steps in and gives tips to help fix the job and to avoid another DIY disaster. The first episode runs today, 12 and 3 p.m., and Saturday, 3 and 10 p.m., on HGTV.
