Age Group International In other swimming news, Dolphins member Sinead Russell won the high-point trophy in the girls' 11-12 age division at the Age Group International (AGI) meet earlier this month in Etobicoke. Russell won the 200metre, 400m and 800m freestyles, the 100m and 200m backstrokes and the 200m and 400m individual medleys. She added silver in the 50m and 100m freestyles, also placing fourth in the 200m butterfly. In her next competition, Russell will swim in the older age group as she looks for a stiffer challenge. Her times at the AGI meet were better than any 13- or 14-year-old competitors. Also winning medals at the AGI meet were Jacinda Smit (silver in girls' 17-and-older 200m backstroke) and Alexandra VanOmmen (bronze in girls' 13-14 100m and 200m breaststroke). The Dolphins finished eighth out of 28 clubs represented at the AGI. Buffalo Star Invitational Meanwhile, despite the absence of many of its top swimmers, OAK finished first overall at the recent Buffalo Star Invitational. Mackenzie Martyn led the way for OAK with four gold medals, a silver and a bronze, while Alexander Smith won three events, adding silver and bronze in others. Evan White, Emily Hunt and Courtney den Elzen each claimed two golds, with the 10and-under girls' team of Meghan Clark, Chrissa McDonald, Tanith Wilkinson, Michelle Carrabetta, Julia Pupulin, Sarah Hay and Paris Will victorious in all four of its relay races.
