14 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday June 16, 2006 www.oakvillebeaver.com Bronte Historical Society celebrates Father's Day with Tea on the Bluffs The Bronte Historical Society is holding its 11th annual Tea on the Bluffs on Father's Day, Sunday, June 18 on the lawn of Bronte's historic Sovereign House, from 11:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. This picture-perfect setting under a canopy of trees on the Bronte Bluffs is the backdrop for a Devonshire tea, featuring scones, Devonshire cream, strawberry jam, baked treats, plus hot tea or chilled lemonade. Bronte Historical Society volunteers are available to interpret exhibits in the Sovereign House. Tickets cost $8 in advance and $9 at the gate. Children under 12 will be admitted for $5. Father's Day bike ride and walk The worst thing for a father to experience is the loss of his child, but Rob Leuschner has turned the loss of his son Ellis into an opportunity to help others. After Ellis died in a bicycle accident in Oakville, Leuschner has organized the Father's Day Bike Ride and Walk to raise money through the Ellis Leuschner Fund for several causes. The bike ride and walk is on Father's Day, June 18, at Erindale Park in Mississauga. The full route, which is 22 km from Erindale Park to Ellis Leuschner Challenge Park, begins at 9 a.m., with registration at 8:30 a.m. The 4.2 km family route has the same beginning and end points but travels through the Culham Trail. It begins at 10 a.m., with registration at 9:30 a.m. The fund has supported the construction of the Ellis Leuschner Challenge Park, The Mississauga News Christmas Fund, the Philip Aziz Centre, Peel Partners for a Drug Free Community, the Hamilton Community Centre, and the Oakville YMCA.
