For seven days and nights, with only 132 other passengers (capacity is 74 cabins, 148 guests), being pampered by 91 crew members, we sailed from Barbados to Bequia, Iles Des Saintes, St. Martin, St. Barts and St. Kitts before returning to Barbados. It was fabulous! The "Wind Star" is 440 feet in length, weighs 5,300 tons, has four masts that tower 204 feet above the water and has an diesel electric propulsion system that supplements the sails to insure that the weekly sailing schedules are met. Du'_ring our 84 hours of traveling on the seas, the sails were ‘up‘ 79 hours (they even had a contest _ Tall Ship sailing holiday was thrill of a lifetime fravel with Cruise Holidays START TODAY ! The 73 deluxe outside cabins are all the same size, beautifully decoâ€" rated and totally functional (there is one large owner‘s suite). All cabins have two generous portholes that lets the light stream in. Each cabin has a directâ€"dial shipâ€" toâ€"shore telephone, VCR, CD playâ€" er, multiâ€"channel radio, color TV, minibar, refrigerator, safe, hair dryer and 24â€"hour room service â€" all the comforts of home! The ship‘s library houses an THERMO TRIM WRAP OR E.M.S. SESSION WITH MEMBERSHIP extensive CD and Video collection for your use in your cabin and a reaâ€" sonable book library. In addition to the library faciliâ€" ties, this ship boasts a sauna, fitness room, outdoor swimming pool with pool bar, a casino (blackjack, Caribbean stud poker and slots), sigâ€" nature shop (shopping), hair stylist, masseuse and an entertainment lounge. The ship does not have eleâ€" vators. While we expected a quality food program on this ship, it exceeded our expectations! Breakfast and lunch were served on deck or in ‘The Verandah‘, a beautiful glass enclosed setting, high on the ship. Dinner was served in ‘The Restaurant‘ from 7:30 pm on an open seating basis. Dine with whom you want at the time you choose. It was like going to the finest restauâ€" rant every night. By the way this ship has a totally casual dress code â€" no ties or jackets in the dining room, ever! An extensive 24 Hour Room Service‘ menu was also available including the ability to order anyâ€" thing from the lunch and dinner menus during those dining hours in your cabin. Breakfast in bed, watchâ€" ing a first run movie, was a treat! The "Wind Star" and her two sisâ€" ter ships, the "Wind Song" and "Wind Spirit" have a builtâ€"in sports platform that drops down at the rear of the ship when we are anchored off shore for our daily stop (we did not ‘dock‘ in any of the ports, but were tendered into the main port of each island stop). Submitted by Bob Kerby, Cruise Holidays, 338â€"2077. As you could see from our itinerary, we visited much smaller ports not visited by the large cruise ships and had an opportunity to tour uncrowded islands and take in local " sights. Next week I‘ll complete my report on our ‘Tall Ship‘ cruise covâ€" / ering daily activities, entertainment and other exciting itineraries offered by Windstar Cruises. 4
