The Oakville Concert Band will be making an appearance with the orchestra as well during the Classic Pops Concert. Look for Read playâ€" ing in the orchestra‘s violaâ€"section. This musical town tour includes some commentary, and the guest narrator is Mayor Ann Mulvale. Oakville Suite; A Light Hearted Musical Tour Of Our Town â€" was written, he explains, "to make audiâ€" ences laugh and enjoy themselves. It‘s a bit of serious music and a lot of just fun." The concert will also feature the talents of Oakvillian Leanne Schroeder, a finalist in the 1994 Young Artists Competition. Nineteenâ€"yearâ€"old Schroeder began playing the piano at the age of six and currently is undertaking her Associate Exam from the Western When Read moved to Oakville, he joined the Oakville Symphony Orchestra as a viola player. He had dabbled in musical composition in the past, creating pieces for string quartets but under the direction of Conductor Miller, and with more time on his hands since retirement, Read let his musical juices flow into a seven movement suite dedicated to Miller. At the tender age of six, Read took up the violin; at 10, he studied the piano and a number of other instruments. He obtained an A.R.C.T. diploma in theory, and completed the Grade 10 level in both guitar and piano, from the Royal Conservatory of Music. conducted by David Miller. 4 DAYS ONLY! THURS.
