In a memo that Mrs. Wallace circulated to nursing staff she states, "in giving handsâ€"on care myself and being actively involved in the units, I believe I will develop a deeper and more lasting understanding of what nurses are experiencing on the front line. I want to learn your aspirations and needs and your feelings about patient care and the quality of your work life. I think the relationships I hope to establish with all of you will have the best start possible through sharing nursâ€" ing care."
