It aggressively works for the impleâ€" mentation of the Massachusetts Equal Rights Amendment. In the past, she has volunteered as an agoraphobic worker and as a big sister for a pregnant teenager. She has also worked at a rape crisis center, staffed church programs for needy families, and for six years been active in her local chapter of the March of Dimes â€" working with the Public Health and Education Committee to bring the birth defects message to the public. When not working or busy as a wife and mother of a young child, Warner has tried to offer her help to the community. Currently, she serves as viceâ€"president of education for the Mt. Wachusett Toastmasters and as the secretary of the Ashburnham Historical Commission. She is most proud of her recent success in moving away from tradiâ€" tional medical centre employment to work in a private Ob/Gyn clinic. Creating this position, required her to acquire new business skills and learn to market her services. "I enjoy working with families in the rapidly changing field of genetâ€" ics," she said. "I find my work in helping to prevent birth defects in children to be very exciting and rewarding." As a genetic counselor at Women‘s Medical Associates, she counsels couples at risk of having a child with birth defects. public speaking, and seminars to leam new skills and career strategies.
