I don't know what (Atkinson) based his decision on. We've been very vocal on our concerns. I hope they take that into consideration, but only Dr. Atkinson can make that com- ment," she said. "We want to make sure (the com- mittee's recommendation that some paediatric beds remain open) comes down as the final recommendation," she said. However, Watson said Food City, Loblaws and Miracle Ultra-Mart - located at the Upper Oakville Shopping Centre - accept food donations year-round. Reading, writing and math activities will be on display and staff from all grade levels will be available to discuss programmes. For further information Watson said because of the shortage, the food bank is in "desperate" need of protein items such as canned meat and stews. spaghetti sauce, cereal, juice, pasta, fish, peanut butter and canned beans. Watson said she's at a loss to explain why the food drive failed to meet this year's goal. "I guess times are tough. We thought it would be equal to last year," she said.
