In two short months The Pregnancy Support Network has arranged to have a pamphlet pro- duced list the agencies that will assist young unwed mothers-to- be as well as create the founda- tions for a full support network. "What we are offering them, first and foremost, is confidential friendship through their whole pregnancy," said Georgette Cebrario of Schreiber. "We'll be their friend through- out the pregnancy and help them make connections with services available in the community," Cebrario said. The Pregnancy Support Network began as a group of women aware that young girls who become pregnant didn't know where to turn in their own com- munities. "They felt really alone," Cebrario said. 5 The group set out to make a pamphlet to let young women know where help could be found, she explained. "We soon became aware that the pamphlet itself would not be enough." . The group is now seeking vol- unteers to open their homes to those young women who need a place to go. "We're asking somebody to take them for the full nine months," Cebrario said. However, the actually stay could range from a few weeks to the full term. "Sometimes the girls tell their parents about their pregnancy -and they have to leave home," she said, "at least until things cool off and they can return home." Others are kicked right out of the home and have no where to:go until they can get help from the various agencies, she said. "I am aware that we are asking a lot," she said, " but we do have two homes available already ." She said the women involved with the Pregnancy Support Network are doing this work with a total belief in the need and that they are asking others to step for- ward and do the same.
