The War Amputations of Canada KUZYK: Mrs. Gertrude Kuzyk of Thunder Bay passed away on November 6, 1990: Gertrude was born in Webbwood, Ontario on June longtime resident of Terrace Bay. She is survived by her daughter Donna (Mrs. Bruno Dorigo), grandchildren, Jim, Dan, Bob, Joe and Terri and sister Dorothy (Mrs. Leo Plourde) and brother Melvin. Predeceased by her husband Paul, son Harold and daugh- ter Shirley. Funeral Mass was held on November 10, 1990 at 2 p.m. from St. Martin's R.C. Church Terrace Bay. Gary Boyer, president and sole owner of Apex Investigation and Security of Thunder Bay was Violence against women the issue The Company of Sirens will be addressing the issue of vio- lence against women when it pre- sents the play "Whenever I Feel Afraid" in Marathon, Friday Nov.23 The play consists of stories, | songs and skits with themes that emphasize the fact that wife assault is not a private matter and that it is a crime whether it hap- pens on the street or not. Admission and transportation are free. _ ; It is estimated that one in ten women are physically abused by their partners. However there are many bruises that are never seen. There are sexual and psychologi- cal forms of abuse as well. The Northshore Family Resource Centre, Ontario Women's Directorate, plus com- munity donations are sponsoring this play. The Centre provides tempo- rary and safe shelter for women and their children who are vic- tims of domestic violence. There is an Outreach office in Schreiber. D'ARCY: Mrs. Helen D'Arcy (nee Rosie) a lifetime resi- dent of Schreiber passed away unexpectedly at her res- idence on November 7, 1990. Helen's home, the great out- doors, her pets and her chari- table actions kept her a vibrant integral part of the community for more than 50 years. Her generosity was renowned and will continue to be remembered through grants bequeathed to several local and national charities. She is survived by a sister Katherine Murray of Toronto and was predeceased by her husband William since September of 1984 as well as brothers Don and Ed Rosie and sisters Mabel Rosie, Dorothy Plummer and Elsie Jewel. A major part of Helen's life revolved around her Church, St. Andrew's United in Schreiber, where a Funeral Service was held on November 9, 1990 at 2 p.m. Cremation followed.
