They returned in a horse and cutter to South River where they moved into a boarding house. Cliff worked in a chemical company and also trapped. Wallis spent alot of time alone, cutting her own wood, gardening and taking care of the farm animals after they had their own home. They struggled through the hungry 30's with odd jobs. Cliff worked as a lumberjack around South River as well as Longlac. Wallis took in boarders and worked in a restaurant. In 1931 their daughter Rita was born followed by*Connie in 1941. In March 1955 they moved to Terrace Bay where Cliff worked at the rec center and part time at the post office until he reuired. Wallis also worked at the snack bar and helped Cliff clean the post office. Cliff also trapped part time and Wallis became well known for her bread and buns and sewing. Besides daughters Connie and Rita they have four grandsons and one great grandson. Their grandson Brian was married on February 16, 1985 as close as they could get to their grandpar- ents anniversary so they would have the luck Cliff and Wallis had. Cliff and Wallis returned to Terrace from the Toronto area to reside at Birchwood Terrace a few years ago. This enabled tthem to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren. Cliff keeps busy with his garden and Wallis with her knitting of afgans which are known from Terrace Bay to Toronto. €Z xog SuUueeP 'eljeole/y = O x = pet) [?) @ ise) bet sS (e) = Le OGALIO' Honest Girls Return Money Stacey Metcalf and Melissa Savage returned $400.00 they had found by the Nugget Food Store in Terrace Bay on January 19.
