errace Ba December 21, 1988 Priorities discussed at Inaugural meeting of Schreiber town council By Dave Chmara The newly installed Schreiber town council held_its first council meeting Tuesday, December 13 with councillors expressing what they see as priorities for the town of Schreiber. Councillor Ed Borutski consid- ered priorities to be sidewalk repair, lots in the new subdivision if they are necessary, the purchase of a fire truck, purchase of property at Walker Lake to complete the access road re-alignment and the continuation of the library and Town Hall project. Councillor Ron McBride feels there is an urgent need to proceed with the acquisition of land for the cemetery and the development of the land for use as soon as possible. He wants closer attention to be paid to the Recreation Centre mainte- nance and for any necessary repairs to be completed. No longer will they have to drive down the busy company road either, because Minnova has started acar pool for its employees. As well, Schreiber will proceed with the Sewer Plant Expansion Project with a capacity of 2,800 persons at an estimated cost of $2,410,000 and that MM Dillon will proceed with the final design of the plant. The town will apply to the Ministry of the Environment for the applicable subsidy funding. As well, Council meetings will now be held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month beginning in January. - Schreiber 40 cents Minnova employees warming up to new car pooling program "This means were dedicated to this program and it will be a long term one," said Dickson. The vans will be used to shuttle employees to and from work and occasionally for work purposes said Dickson. Minnova has never tried a pro- gram like this before and Dickson said the company is optimistic the program will continue after the lease on these vans is up.
