Page 2, News, Wednesday, November 9 , 1988 52 more shopping days till Chritmas By: Helene Ballard I hope there has not been too many tummy aches after all those "Halloween Treats" Too bad the weather was not better, but I guess there is nothing we can do about that. We had a great time giving out treats to the children, I think our youngest visitor was 3 months old, all dressed up like a cute little kitten his mother made for him, he even had wiskers painted on his sweet little face. We had a good supply of goodies to give out _ thanks to our Chef Leon. I also want to thank the Terrace Bay Fire Department, they brought over a box with mixed candy so today our residents are enjoying thier treats. Our thanks also to Waghorns Pharmacy and staff for their delightful Halloween Card and balloons, they added to the fun. Our staff were all-in costumes and until the dining room staff spoke to us it was hard to tell who they were, they really made our day. Our Ladies Auxiliary to Birchwood had a nice Halloween party on Saturday, October 29, these ladies always work so hard to bring us some fun. I would like to thank them on behalf of the SCENES for sale at WHITE SAND LAKE Spend some time in the country and experience the ageless beauty of the North Shore of Lake Superior captured for you by S. I hat to put a "Bite" in this week but, phone calls, visitors to Birchwood and folks up town have asked me to help them through this column so here goes. Some of the fair sex in our town said they hate to go out after dark, seems some street lights have been out again and even after phone calls to the Town Office there are still lights out. I was told by one citizen that the new types of street lights do not give out enough light and therefore the streets are too dark. Maybe they saved money, but dark streets invite trouble. Please who ever is in charge of this, can you do something about this problem. Thanks ! I notice we still have some dogs running around with no leash - come on folks lets remedy this sO No one or no dog gets hurt. Gosh I was just thinking only 52 more days to do your X-mas shopping, seems close when one thinks of it, so I guess all you nice folds will have your list made out. . Happy Shopping Guess this is all for this week so until next time- - Some bad advice: "Stay away from good times, the opposite sex, and late nights - - looks like a loooong winter.
