Our weather of late sure feels like October instead of August. Oh' well, I guess there is not much we can do about it except enjoy the nice days while we have them. Many of our residents took a bus trip to Polly Lake and enjoyed a day at the Girl Guides' Camp. All the residents had a good time. Our friends from the Chimo Club of Schreiber were along to add to the fun. There were "loads" of good things to eat, and some enjoyed a few games of bingo. As usual, all our voices got a work-out 'singing songs of "'yester-year" that brought back many memories. Our thanks to the Girl Guides of Canada Terrace Bay group. We would also: like to thank Trottier Bus Lines for the use of a bus and our very kind driver Pat. How about those potatoes! -- The Birchwood gardeners show off a crop of monstrous potatoes that were grown in the back garden. (I-r) Anne Rybak, Clifford Barker and his wife Wallace tended to the garden this summer and provid- ed the residents with many meals of delicious and fresh veg- etables. Although fall harvest will be soon upon gardeners, Clifford says he expects to get a few more snacks of carrots, beets, beans and cabbage from the Birchwood garden.
