Page 6, News, Wednesday, May 25, 1988 errace Bay recreation news Fun Run 1988 The Fun Run held May 24 is just a passing memory now and the Recreation Department would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who participated in this year's North Shore Recreation Directors Participation Challenge. Results of the challenge ' between the organizations, schools, groups, etc. will be published next week. We are still continuing the con- test for the oldest person, youngest person, the school with the most participants, the largest family attending and the organization with the most members participating in the Fun Run. Coaches Needed We need your assistance with the Minor Ball program. Coaches and umpires are necessary in order to make this program a success. If you can spare some time in the evenings to help with this program, please give the Recreation Department a call at 825-3542. Radio-Controlled Car Club "Looking for Some Adventure!" "Here it is!" The Recreation Department in Terrace Bay is now taking names of individuals interested in starting a Radio-Controlled Car Club. This club would be involved in racing, repair, maintenance, and the demonstration of radio-controlled cars. If you or your friends are inter- ested in this new exciting pastime, contact the Recreation Office at 825-3542 or call Mark Mannisto at 825-3613. Student SummerEmployment The Student Summer Employ- ment Office is now open for place- ments. This office is.situated in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Terrace Bay Recreation Complex. Monique Parisé will be the Student Placement Officer this year, and she can be reached by calling 825-9231. All students wishing to register with the Employment Office can do so between the hours of 8:30 and 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. It is necessary for the students to register in order to receive place- ments. Anyone wishing to hire a student for odd jobs during the summer months is requested to contact us by calling Monique at the above phone number. Lion's Club Flea Market The Terrace Bay/Schreiber Lion's Club will be hosting a Flea Market, Yard Sale and Auction on Saturday June 18 from 10:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. All items donated-- large or small -- will be gratefully accepted. Arrangements for pick up of these items can be made by calling any one of the following Lions members -- Tom Dickson, 825- 3209; Colin Crown, 825-9678, or Bob Hopper at 825-3712. Those wishing to participate in the Yard Sale may do so by pur- chasing a table to display their typi- cal yard sale items. Arrangements may also be made to have their items auctioned off. A nominal entrance fee for adults will be charged.
