People keep saying: "Spring is just around the corner, but it's one heck of a long block to get to it." However, I guess we are hardy souls and we can make it O.K. Our good card playing friends were in on Tuesday March 15 and enjoyed an afternoon of cards. One of our residents, Pam Waghorn, won the trophy for the highest score in Bridge in 1987. "Congrats." Our St. Patrick's Day Tea was a very happy day, and as usual we were glad to see our many friends. At this time, I would like to thank the ladies of the Birchwood Auxiliary for their hard work on our behalf. Also thanks to all who donated goodies and sandwiches; everything was so good. I would like to thank Mary Chadwell for the tablecloth she made and donated. Our thanks to Joan and Tarmo Ronkainen for the green and white balloons, which added a festive touch to our Trish decorations. The door prize was won by Peggy Helmink, and the raffle tablecloth was won by Lillian Belliveau. Several of our readers have asked me where I get my "Wee Jokes." Well, some I have heard years ago and have stored them away in my brain and some were sent to me by my friends, but this week's joke came to me from Fairbanks, Alaska, where my daughter Frances Rose lives with her husband and children. He decided to ask his parish priest to speak to the boys hoping this would put the fear of God in them. The priest agreed and asked the young man to send the youngest boy in first. When the little boy came to see the priest, he was told to sit down, whereupon Father looked into the boy's face and asked "Where is God?" The child looked around the room but kept silent. For a second time, the priest asked: "Where is God?," and again the boy did not answer. So, in a loud voice, Father asked again: "Where is God?" This made the little boy get up from his chair, run out the door and down the stairs, across the street and into his house where his broth- er was. Slamming the door, he looked a his brother and said: "Boy are wé in trouble this time! God is missing and they are blaming us!"
