Page 2, Terrace Bay-Schreiber News, Wednesday, November 12,1986 Cheque presented to DAG and McClausland By Gertrude Cotton On Oct. 30 at the McCausland Hospital in Terrace Bay, Paul Malcomson presented the area Dis- ability Action Group (DAG) Pres- ident Rod Thompson a cheque for $200. This sum represented half the pro- ceeds of a summer tournament held by the North Shore Selects Hockey Team. This was further augmented by a donation from the tournament umpires and scorekeepers of their fees, which totalled $55. That presentation was followed by a donation to representatives of the Hospital Board, Daphne Monks and Shona Patriquin for the other half of the proceeds from the tournament. Mike Kenny made the presentation on behalf of the team. Proceeding on with business of the meeting, Elizabeth McLean read the minutes and correspondence. In the absence of Ann Mercure, Shirley Mikus gave the financial report. A tremendous hand was given to Jack Patterson as the results of the raffle on his painting were announc- ed. The painting was won by Moni- que Desilets of Schreiber, and was particularly meaningful as she has a sister-in-law also afflicted with cerebral palsy who has accomplish- ed a great deal despite her problem. President Rod gave a run-down on the HAGI Conference he and Bern- adette had attended in Thunder Bay. Shirley had talked with Terrace Bay Councillor Peter Romanuk. Both Terrace Bay and Schreiber Councils were interested in establishing a list for special alerting in emergency sit- uations, = 3% These lists would be posted in the _ Municipal Office, Police, and Fire . Irene Kettle is on the executive of the Block Parents and would represent DAG when the proposed Neighborhood Watch is established later this year. Cathie Smith, Community Devel- Oper, was guest speaker for the even- ing, and she offered several sugges- tions to get DAG established on course. She would be available to get this started and set out a program at the next meeting, which was set for TGhursday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. in the McCausland Hospital lobby. Contest winner News. For his winning entry, Jordie took home some Play-Doh and colouring books donated by Cebrario's Hardware of Terrace Bay. Seven-year-old Linnea Duffy of Schreiber won a doll and some colouring books in the annual Good Artist by Cebrario's Hardware and the Terrace Bay- Schreiber News. The other winner was Jordie Hallowe'en Children's Page Contest sponsored Simons, 5, of Terrace Bay. Ontario.
