Health Council nominations The Thunder Bay Dis- trict Health Coucil is seek- ing nominations for mem- bership on the Council in order to fill current or future vacancies. Persons interested in an appoint- ment to the District Health Council should be commit- ted to the improvement of their community by fac- ilitating needed and effec- tive health care services. Ideally, these are in- dividuals who are willing to demonstrate their com- mitment through involve- ment without remuneration at monthly meetings of the Council and through par- ticipation in related Com- mittee work. Previous association with the health care system is not a pre- requisite for appointment, a Health Council news release noted. The District Health Council acts in an advisory capacity to the Minister of Health for Ontario. Its role is one of planning and Coaches needed Minor Ball Minor Ball is scheduled to begin next Monday. Coaches and Umpires are still needed due to the tremendous enrolment in T Ball (Boys and Girls aged 5 to 7), Junior Nationals (Boys aged 8 to 12), and also Junior Canadians (Girls aged 8 to 12). Men's Slow Pitch: The Men's Slow Pitch League started their season with their Spring Tourna- ment held on the weekend of May 17 and 18. When the event finished on Sunday afternoon, with many participants com- plaining of sunburn and sore muscles, we found the end results were as foll- ows: Bandits 25, Good- timers 8 (Semi-final game). In the final, the 'No Games Lost' Tigers defeated the Bandits by a score of 15-5. It was an exciting open- ing tournament, with 82 participants who enjoyed the weekend despite all the aches and pains. The regular schedule for the Men's Slow Pitch League began on May 25. Men's OV Tournament The Men's O.V. Slow Pitch Tournament will be ® held in Thunder Bay on June 13, 14 and 15. Con- tact persons are Don Hall, at 345-2105 or Cliff Lund- berg at 577-9010. You must have your team entered by June 5. Finally, Mixed Slow Pitch regular games began on May 27 at 6 p.m. coordination of health ser- vices in the District of Thunder Bay.
