Gord Moorey, a partner in the corporation and manager of the Terrace Bay office, said he was very pleased with the change, as it has helped his business. '"'The space became available on March 17," Moorey explained. Two weeks of extensive renova- tions at the site began almost immediately, in- cluding some last minute work over the Easter weekend. '*We officially reopened on March 31," he added. The office was previously in the back of the same building, located at 13 Sim- coe Plaza in Terrace Bay. Moorey noted that the company also has offices in Marathon and Wawa. The Terrace Bay branch actual- ly opened on April 8, 1985 as Shoreline Insurance Brokerage, an independent corporation. A few months later, the local office amalgamated with Lake Superior Insurance Brokers, based in Wawa. "We are a brokerage, rather than an agency,"' Moorey said of the com- pany. "We can draw from other companies to get the best insurance deals for our customers ... agencies are only able to write from one company."' He said the new com- pany has access to an en- tirely different insurance arrangement now, with a variety of prices and ser- vices available. There are now five offices in the combined company, which has been serving the North Shore area for 21 years. '*With this new arrange- ment, we were able to at- tract six different insurance companies, and prior to that we were basically working with two," he added. The local office runs its own programs and sells a full range of insurance, ranging from personalized to commercial to life. Per- sonalized insurance in- cludes both home and automobile coverage, ~ while commercial in- surance is usually directed at trucks, airplanes, bon- ding, liability, and com- mercial risks. "You can get all of your insurance needs taken care of right here," Moorey said. "We have a free policy evaluation." The company's motto is "When it comes to in- surance, it's Superior Shoreline Insurance, for Sate. Working with Moorey at the Terrace Bay office is Eileen Belliveau, a registered insurance broker, who was born in Terrace Bay. She noted that the office's hours are from 9 to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. from Monday to Fri- day, with additional hours available by appointment. The office's phone number is 825-9492. BPP to begin According to a news release from the Terrace Bay Police Force, the Block Parent Pr_gram for the town will be in place for Friday, April 18. The release added that there are still some areas which could use additional Block Parents. If you are interested, please contact the Police Force or the Block Parent Committee for an application. At the moment, the Block Parent Committee consists of Susan Glad as Chairman, Johanne Desaulniers as Secretary, and Frank Sechesky as Treasurer. The represen- tatives from St. Martin's School are Irene Kettle, Johanne Desaulniers, and Joe Pelto. On the Commit- tee from Terrace Bay PUblic School are Ann Smrke and Kathy Papineau. The release added that a general meeting will be held on April 21 at 1 p.m. for those interested in for- ming a Business Associa- tion for Terrace Bay. The meeting will be held in the Conference Room at the Recreation Centre. A representative from the Northwestern Chamber of Commerce and two representatives from the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce will be on hand to answer questions and ex- plain the benefits of a local Chamber. A short introduction of a Robbery Prevention Pro- gram being conducted by the local Police Force for town merchants will also be held at the April 21 meeting, the release added.
